Season nine of Smallville is already up and rolling, and one of the highlights of it so far is the relationship developing between Clark/The Red-Blue Blur and Lois. You've seen how they were on the last episode, "Metallo," but apparently that's just not enough for the fans and for actress Erica Durance.
"I think that you're going to see a lot more of that triangle," she revealed on an interview with IESB.net. "She's so smitten with the Red-Blue Blur, and yet is undeniably drawn to Clark. I think, over the season, you'll be able to see how much they depend on each other, on so many levels. There's still that fun and that comedy side of it, with the banter, but they're also just trying to figure out how they feel about each other."
But considering love triangles, there's also one involving Oliver. Unfortunately for the fans of that ship, consider it sunk. "She's done with Oliver! She's found the real deal," Erica Durance went on. "The beauty about the relationship with Oliver, that I liked, was that it was one of the first times you saw Lois in something that was mature, and where she really opened up and was really vulnerable with someone."
She maintains that Lois' connection with Oliver has evolved into a strong friendship. "I don't think you ever forget that first love, but I think that she loves him as a friend, and she sees him in a downward spiral, so there's a lot of that interaction."
And just like the fans, Erica Durance is thrilled to talk about the two men in the life of Lois. It's certainly a nice change after we've seen several women falling for Clark.
"So, in this season, now I have more of a triangle of two guys, vying for her attention, which is a nice treat for Smallville," she said. "Usually, it's all the women salivating over Clark, so it's fun. I get to the set and go, "Start to be smitten, boys! Let's go! It's your turn!""
With all those hints at Clois, why bother tagging this season as Clark's darkest hour? Sure he has to battle all those villains from time to time, but if he gets the girl in the end then maybe it won't be that bad, would it?
