OTH: Character Departure Chatter Much Ado Over Nothing? - Featured

Here's an update on the status of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton potentially not returning to One Tree Hill next season.

From this week's Ask Ausiello:

Question: Desperately need some scoop on One Tree Hill. Are Hilarie Burton and Chad Michael Murray returning next season? -Scott

Ausiello: They're negotiating new deals now. Everything you've been hearing, reading, and seeing about how Warner Bros. and the CW don't want them back is bunk, so don't fall for it.

So...sounds like the rumors of the 2 leaving the show have been greatly exaggerated. Relieved?

I am relieved. I think the show would of suffered without them. I think if anything they are just trying to promote the storyline of Peyton's pregnancy so that we all think she is going to die... I guess she isn't!

That definitely is the best news. I can't imagine OTH without the two and I'm sick and tired of un-happy endings on this show.
I don't think I could continue watching if Leyton are gone.

Thats good news but i really hope they wrap up the show soon like hopefully by next season. Otherwise it will seem that they are dragging the show to its doom.

It's a relief. Even though I don't like CMM, OTH without Lucas and Peyton couldn't be OTH. And I would be pretty pissed off if Peyton died because of her pregnancy.
But I agree with samandeepg and allnametaken, I love this show but it has to stop.
There is one thing though. I watched Hilarie Burton's video on her website Southern Gothic Production ( ) and it's quite clear that she's sad because she has to leave. So I would really hate if what is said in that video wasn't true... I just hope she didn't play with her fans...

all you who are saying that it should end are NOT true fans of the show. i on the other hand love OTH and hope it continues much longer. I am aslo glad tha CMM and HB are going to be in it but i still would have watched it without them because there would still be great characters in like Naley, Brooke, Sam, Debra, Jamie and Skills

For me, either way I'm still going to watch. I don't want them to leave, but I want CMM to take some acting classes or something, I really can't stand his acting. I fast forward through all his parts, I even do that on all the seasons I have. I love the show no matter what, whatever ends up happening I hope it all is for the best. It's one of my favorite shows on TV right now... well when it's playing. I feel like it's too soon to end the series, I'm just not ready for it to end yet. So like I said; whatever the outcome I hope it's the best choice for the show. I'll watch regardless.

I'm so happy to hear the news that Chad and Hillarie may be returning. The show would not be the same without them and it would have been hard to get through season 7 or more without Leyton. This is the best news ever!!!

i'm so glad that they were only rumours. I think we all feel that it would be better overall if peyton and lucas were to live happily with the baby!!! :) but however i disagree that if cmm and hb do leave the show should end like a few of you have put because then so many people would loose their jobs and stuff . I admit it would be sooo much worse if they did leave as they are amazing and i probably wouldn't watch it all the time like i do now , but it would still be a decent show to watch !!! come on guys lets express how much we love the charecters here !! not that we want them to be fired!!!! wooooo!!!! go one tree hill !!!! peyton and lucas
SCOTT -SEYWER forever!!! xxxx

While I am relieved to hear that the two are staying, I do think that next season should be the last. I love OTH but all the drama that possibly could happen, has happened.
It would be sad to see a great show wrecked by over-exaggerated stories. Already almost (or maybe even really?) killing off Peyton is a stretch. Next season should gives a heap of happy endings to all the story lines and then it is time to say goodbye.
P.S. I don't kno where I'll get my new, good music from, though. :-)

thank goodness. Honestly, ever since the complication with Peyton's pregnancy, I've the sudden feeling that if she dies, her heart might be donated to Dan - which is pretty silly for me to think. Then again, thank goodness they're both coming back.
I do hope their relationship would not get strained. They've been through so much together, it'll be a shame if they broke up again.

I would be sad if they left, however if they did it in a good way, I don't think I'd mourn. I actually wouldn't mind if they did the plot of Peyton dying. It would be a good plot and add a lot of good stuff for everyone involved. However, it would also be depressing. I mean, I hate Lucas and Peyton together (ducks from everyone throwing things at me) but I do love their characters (especially when they aren't together.)
But even if they left, I'd still watch. Not sure I could say the same if the person who left turned out to be Sophia.

i agree completely relentless.888 they are just trying to scare the fans and making us come back and keep watching the show. it's a tricky thing they are doing.
it would suck so bad if Peyton died though. the show would be so weird withough Leyton. a thought came to me awhile ago, i think they would kill Peyton and she would come back and talk to Lucas as a ghost like Keith did. just a thought. then Lucas would have to raise a baby by himself too. it would be a crazy scenario.

"Everything you've been hearing, reading, and seeing about how Warner Bros. and the CW don't want them back is bunk..."
that's a tricky way of saying that it's not the network that wants them to leave it's the people.the deals they're negotiating are to get them to stay
