'American Idol's' Crystal Bowersox has found a new home: According to E! Online, the season 9 runner-up has signed with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, a company that already includes such former contestants as Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.
The album, which is expected to hit shelves later this year, will be Bowersox's major-label debut.
Bowersox kept a fairly consistent voice on the show, showing her folk and classic rock influences. Her go-to cover song was the Janis Joplin version of 'Me and Bobby McGee.'
On her Facebook and 'American Idol' sites, Bowersox lists Glen Hansard, Jewel, Tracy Chapman, Melisa Etheridge and Joplin as influences. She performed Hansard's 'Falling Slowly,' Etheridge's 'Come to my Window' and Tracy Chapman's 'Give Me One Reason' on 'American Idol,' among other songs.
The inevitable 'American Idol' tour begins July 1 in Auburn Hills, MI.
The show is also preparing for its 10th season, starting a six-city tour for auditions in Nashville, on July 17. Auditions will also be held in Milwaukee, New Orleans, East Rutherford, Austin and San Francisco.
