"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" has dominated the slimiest event of the year, the 22nd Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. On Saturday night, March 28, the first feature film of Disney's TV movie series "High School Musical" has grabbed two out of five awards given for feature films, taking home Favorite Movie and Favorite Movie Actress .
For the Favorite Movie title, "HSM3" beat out tough competitors that included "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man". Accepting the kudo was the drama musical's leading man, Zac Efron, who said, "Lately, a lot of people have been taking credit for bringing back the musical. The truth is we've known who's been responsible for bringing back the musical all along. It was you guys!"
The Favorite Movie Actress went to Efron's on and off screen lover, Vanessa Hudgens. Upon receiving the award, she thanked her little sister Stella "for asking all her friends at school to vote". Meanwhile, Will Smith was named Favorite Movie Actor, besting over Jim Carrey, George Lopez and Adam Sandler.
Other movie winners included "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa", which nabbed Favorite Animated Movie, and Jack Black, who won Favorite Voice From an Animated Movie for his Po's voicing in "Kung Fu Panda". Arriving on-stage in a motorcycle sidecar to pick up the award, Black said, "I am touched, I am moved, I am pumped, and I am jazzed. I promise you will try my hardest to make 'Kung Fu Panda 2' even more awesome than that first one."
