Filming has commenced on Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans, and the production's first overseas shooting location has been revealed.
According to BBC News, Marvel Studios has chosen the streets of Manchester and Liverpool, England to serve as a World War II era New York. The location will mark the first time that Marvel Studios has held production on a feature film outside of the U.S.
Susan Williams, a drama liason manager whose company was contacted by Marvel in February, told BBC, "Manchester's Northern Quarter is one of our most popular filming locations in the city, thanks to its versatility. We suggested the area to Marvel as its wide streets, towering buildings and pre-war architecture will make the perfect 1940s New York."
