Hardwicke Not Directing Twilight Sequel

Catherine Hardwicke, the female director of the insanely successful Twilight film has announced that she won't be directing its sequel, New Moon.

Says Hardwicke:

"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon. Directing Twilight has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit [Entertainment] the best with the sequel - it is a great story."

Timing issues? How much do you want to bet that it was money issues...

A replacement director has not yet been named. The targeted release date for New Moon will be late 2009/early 2010.

yeah, thats compleate BS. Summit fired her, it's been all over the news. I was expecting something like a 'timing issue' to come up about it... She did a really good job with it, and the cast loved her. why replace her??

good cast but she wasn't that great a director... i thought she kind of ruined the book.... and the shooting ws crap, so quick and if you didn't read the book and went to watch it you would have thought what the hell is all this craze about....
