And the Winner of this Year's Buffy Award...

...is The Shield.

But what's the Buffy Award, you ask?

The Buffy Award has been around for 5 years now (previous winners include Veronica Mars and Friday Night Lights) and is awarded by Salon.com to what they consider to be the most underrated and overlooked show on TV.

Says Salon about The Shield:

"Just as quickly as it had emerged, this drama disappeared from the radar, failing to win another major award over the past five years, with only a smattering of Emmy nominations along the way. Meanwhile, the show has arguably improved each and every season, to the point where it may be the most impeccably scripted, well-acted, dynamically plotted drama currently on television."

What do you think? Is The Shield a worthy recipient of the Buffy award (wish I could comment...but I don't actually watch...)?

I can understand why Veronica Mars got it (because its amazing), yet not the Shield. For me, The Shield became far too repetitive after the first two or three seasons...

The Shield is the best show on television today, hands down. It's particularly impressive because every season builds on to the one before, and where shows like the Soprano's fizzled out to shells of what they once were by the end, the Shield is likely to go out at the top of its game.
