Cancellation Buzz: Scrubs is Dead, Says Zach Braff

From THR:

According to Scrubs star Zach Braff, the long-long running comedy is finished.

After nine seasons and two networks, Braff says the ABC comedy won't return next year.

Posting on Facebook, Braff wrote:

"Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that 'New Scrubs,' 'Scrubs 2.0,' 'Scrubs with new kids,' 'Scrubbier,' 'Scrubs without JD' is no more. It was worth a try, but alas... it didn't work. zb"

Now before writing the show off, an ABC rep says the network hasn't made its official decision yet. Given the show's weak ratings during this rebooted season, a return does seem pretty unlikely, though, especially given ABC's recent comedy success with its Wednesday block led by "Modern Family."

I will miss Scrubs dearly, but it has lost its flair. I love Scrubs, it is one of my favorite shows, but sometimes it is always best to say goodbye. I wish it wasnt so...

Scrubs was one of the most intelligently funny series I've ever come across but it's the sad truth that after season 8 it went downhill.

I agree with thegmoat. I really do love Scrubs, but it should have bowed out gracefully after season 8. Season 9 had a few good points, but couldn't stay consistent enough to garner a devoted audience.

i have to agreee taking out the main charater is risky....and plus no janitor!!! a few really funny moments though. it was a good try. but i was fully satisfied with the way it ended in season 8

New Scrubs definitely hasn't been the same as the old Scrubs. It lost its mojo after Season 7 ended so strangely (especially with the episodes being aired out of order). I applaud and thank ABC for trying to keep it going, but it's time is over.

Though the new Scurbs isn't quite as good, I think the new characters bring something different to the same old plot. Plus I think Braff is a jerk. He's pretty much saying they can't go on without him. I hope it stays around just to spite him.
