Scottish actor Sylvester McCoy, best known as the seventh incarnation of Doctor Who, is reportedly up for a major role in Peter Jackson's two-part adaptation of The Hobbit.
A writer for the U.K. site Screenrush claims to have "bumped into (McCoy) and were made aware that he's been cast for a major role in The Hobbit."
The site is quick to point out, though, that their scoop "didn't come from the man himself but a close source has confirmed that he'll be playing 'the second biggest lead' in the upcoming Lord Of The Rings prequel opposite Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis." McCoy's reps are said to have declined comment on the casting.
