"Dying of the Light" Review (Spoilers Inside Beware)

So what did we learn on episode 6 of Heroes? Was there anything resolved or did this show get a little bit more complicated. It is now a bit more confusing than it originally was.

First off, Arthur Petrelli is alive, due to the fact that he sucked up Adam Monroe's power that eventually healed Arthur and killed Adam. What was killing him in the first place I wonder...and if his power is being able to suck up abilities...how was he able to get into Angela's dream? Was it because he was in a coma and had a connection to the dream world...I just don't know.

Secondly, and still focusing on Arthur, he created a group of villians. Why he just doesn't suck up their powers and get it over worth is something I don't get. Maybe more than one person with an ability is better than one person with tons of abilities...but I doubt it.

Third, is Mr. Linderman dead? In, I believe, Season One, he was killed. And now we say him alive but only certain people can see him. Is this because Mr. Parkman, Matt's father, (who is actually working for Arthur Petrelli) is actually making people see Linderman? If so, then why is it that Arthur wanted Matt's Father make Nathan see Linderman? It is very awkward.

Fourth, Peter was lured by his father into a father/son hug, which eventually gave Arthur Peter's abilities. So now what happens to Peter. Does peter go see Mohinder and ask to be injected or does he go to the doctor that also injected Nikki and try to get answers. Perhaps he goes crying home to mom and say that daddy took his powers. ... Oh wait...Sylar is going to looove this...oh I can't wait! How much fun!!!

Anyway...this episode didn't really reveal anything about Ando/Hiro for me except for the fact that Hiro really didn't kill Ando...which I thought was a bummer because when I saw that he did I didn't expect it (WHICH THE SHOW NEEDED). But then this episode ruined that for me...ugh! So now what...?

Oh well...we'll see it Monday

well at the end of the episode where he takes peters powers, the reason why he doesn't do it to all of the people there is because peter has already got their powers merely by standing next to them. So Arthur just has to take them away from peter and can keep the other villains alive, thats my 2 cents anyway ^^

That is untrue. Peter can take the powers of people around him because of some emotion connected to that person. Even if Peter absorbed the powers of *all* the people around him, his father would not have been able to get the lightning power because he never came in contact with the girl. His father wouldn't be able to use the powers Peter learned to use because he only took Peter's power, and doesn't have the "understanding" of the other people.
Also another hole is where Hiro stops time, but it shouldn't have stopped for Daphne.

no the reason why he can use peters powers is because he's doplicated them unlik his father how can omly take.
p. s. has anyone noted that 50% of the time the children of those how have powers have simler powers (peter, matt)

hmkay all nice and swift, alot happened and alot to come, for instance, Arthur has Sylars ability too now doesnt he? Well hes gonna feel some hunger in a bit, which will destroy him... or the world :D ... who knows maybe he can also give powers to others, instead of just taking those away, i still hope there to be a turnaround, Peter will certainly be good again as he lost all the influence of Sylar and other ...bad abilities :)

I can actually explain most of your points.
Adam died because his power was the only thing keeping him alive so when he lost it he became just a 2000 or so year old corpse.
He needed the team in the begining to do his dirty work as he couldn't even breath without a machine.
Linderman is only an illusion.
He wanted him to see Linderman because he would persuade him easier. (Opinion)
Peter gets grounded by his dad I saw it on the promotional advert. He says until you learn to behave your grounded. I loled.
Now his dad will carry on with his project which is to release the formula to the public.
Note: This can restore Peters power back :P who I forgot to say has gone insane with his father.
Hope this helped.

ok - explain these holes
1) Linderman was supposed to be the person responsible for Nathan's resurrection (his power had been healing), now we know he IS dead and just an illusion how did Nathan survive Peter's assassination attempt? 100% ok within hours. Claire wasn't around. Peter didn't do it with his blood cos he was just as confused I think.2)Hiro's powers don't work properly with Daphne (never explained why which is another hole of sorts) but they worked fine when he froze time to do the killing Ando trick.3)We see Matt and Daphne 4 years in the future with Molly who isn't any older......obviously 4 years is a BIG jump for someone of Molly's age and it was stupid of the writers to have her in the scene as clear as day when she can't possibly be any older.4)How did Peter die? the one from the future. He wasn't shot in the head or decapitated or anything. Just gunshots to the chest and that shouldn't have stopped him since he has healing power. The Haitian was there but he can't stay there forever, when he goes Peter should heal.5)How were Hiro and Ando trapped in level 5? Is the Haitian supposed to stand there guarding them for all time??6) When Sylar went boom, Claire and Knox both escape unhurt along with Peter and Daphne's too slow. Claire makes sense and so does Peter since they're unkillable (although see point 4) but how did Knox escape? If Daphne carried him he should have been toast with her. Peter wouldn't have given a damn about saving him, and he's the only one who could have done it. Even if he DID then how was he captured. No explanation again.7)If Hiro wanted to capture the African guy all he had to do was freeze time, go find him and tie him up before transporting him. Doesn't matter that he sees it coming there's no defence.8)When Hiro is transporting Adam in and out of the coffin, how does he do it???? Think about it. Hiro's power is transporting HIMSELF and anybody he's touching/holding on to. He's never been able to transport someone by themselves at a distance!!!
I love the show but the writers are the laziest I've ever come across. It's so full of holes it annoys the hell out of me. There's probably dozens more I can't think of right now - these are just from the first half dozen episodes in season 3!!!

Anyone else notice this..
When Hiro walks into the precogs hut that there is a painting on the left that doesn't look like anything we have seen yet. Could be a possible future for one angry and one unlucky person

ok at krskipp
1)this is called a serial technique. from wikipedia "Serials rely on keeping the full nature of the story hidden and revealing elements episode by episode to keep viewers tuning in to learn more." (serial drama) No we don't know how he survived but that isn't a hole, they just haven't explained it yet, its a missing piece that we don't know, and keeps us wondering. That's the point. Not a hole.
2)LOL. Hiro CANNOT stop time. CAN'T! He can just super super slow it down. That's why. Because Daphne is so quick, that even with time slowed down by 600fold she can still move around normally. If you watch that episode she says "How are you doing this, are you a speedster like me?" and he says something about stopping time, then she says something like "well if you have stopped time this conversation isn't happening." He can't stop time (and neither can Peter btw. if you remember claire shooting the bullet at him and other scenes where he slows down time) he can just slow it down.
3) I actually prefer to see the real molly actor and not an older look alike. It keeps it more consistent. They try to make her seem older by wearing more teenager clothes and doing what all teens do (listening to her iPod :P ). If you notice Claire doesn't look much older either, besides some makeup and her total personality/wardrobe change. I would much prefer to see molly in the future then have to figure out who this new actor is playing.
4) There are some holes with the Haitian being everywhere blocking people's abilities. But if this is the future and they can give people abilities wouldn't they be able to take them away? Oh wait a sec, peter's dad can do that, who is the head of the team that captured him. So they shoot him in the chest, peter's dad takes peter's powers away. Now he's dead forever.
5)Um, the Haitian WAS there the whole entire time, or at least most of it. How many times does Hiro try to teleport?? Not many. After Hiro thinks his powers don't work there, the Haitian could leave and they wouldn't know. And he was probably watching the security camera's with humor, and came as soon as Hiro got up into the vent. And you don't know how long they were there, it could've just been an hour or two, not all time.
6) Who says Knox escapes? That was in the future.
7)No, because the African would see it coming, and would hit him on the head with the shovel, when he would start to concentrate.
8) He doesn't teleport Adam. He just stops(super super slows down) time and moves Adam back into the coffin. Of course they don't show that because thats a waste of air time they could be showing something exciting or interesting or moving the plot along.
You really wanna talk about the big hole in heroes? Its the time traveling paradox. The butterfly effect. Small little things that peter or hiro does should change the whole future. Not this and this and this, and THEN, the future changes. It should change all the time. But then of course, that would be impossible to do the show, and annoying from the viewers point of view.

I agree with number 1 that an explanation could appear in a future episode but you're just desperately speculating with most of the others. Also I wouldn't be surprised if there's no explanation ever given. I just get the feeling the writers have forgotten about it and won't mention it again.
2)Daphne is frozen when he does the Ando kill trick. She isn't moving at all, which contradicts the other events. Like when he couldn't freeze her to take the formula in her flat. He couldn't do anything other than annoy her by teleporting himself.
3)Having Claire age 4 years isn't such an issue, she's finished growing and the facial differences wouldn't be too major. But having a 9 or 10 yr old seem 13 or14 is a stretch and they should have simply not had her in the scene or had her not so clearly seen so it wasn't so obvious.
4)That could have happened but they don't even acknowledge or explain anything. He takes shots to the chest and that's it. Dead. Your explanation is too convoluted to not be shown in the episode.
5) I'll give you that one
6) Thought I saw him in the scene where she cuts peter - just re-watched it and I was mistaken, but there's still no explanation of how peter was caught though.
7) Not really. He'd have to be directly behind him the entire time he was there; it'd be difficult. And Hiro doesn't attempt it when it should have been the obvious way of doing it. Remember there's two of them going there to get the African.
8) That's just clutching at straws. Sure looked like teleporting to me. Lifting him in and out of the coffin isn't going to be easy.
9) Thought of another one. In the scene where Claire's real mum suffocates her by using the fire to burn up all the oxygen, she's still perfectly OK. Lighting fires is her only ability and don't you dare say that she can breathe without air and they just haven't bothered telling us.
You have to admit there's a lot of things happen in Heroes that contradict each other with no explanation, leaving you to desperately try and think of some convoluted way it could have happened. The writers just seem to expect us to accept everything and it's bugging me like crazy. The time travel thing is to be expected - I know it's a paradox but they do similar things in every other time travel show so I don't mind that.

Ok
1) again.. they won't just forget about it, that would be a huge hole. Have you ever seen another serial drama?? Lost maybe?? Same concept.
2) That's a great point :P You got me
3) But I think they wanted you to know it was molly, not obscure her. Again, I'd rather have the real actor than an older look alike. Its like going and seeing a play, not everything is exactly how it would be, its not practical.
4) They should have mentioned it, but they probably figure that anyone who cares that much would figure out some way that he would stay dead. They don't say it in the episode, but it just happened. Give it some time, if they never address it, THEN its a hole.
6) Well, if he was knocked unconscious that would be prettty easy to capture him.
7) No matter what he did the african would see it coming. There's no way getting around that. Sure, he would have to be behind the hiiro that would be stopping time, but that's not too tough. The loop could just keep going on, and at that point hiiro's screwing with the time continuum a bit too much for comfort, having a whole bunch of copies of himself there.
8) Thats not clutching at straws at ALL. lol. I thought it was obvious. Do you REALLY want to see hiiro push him down and shut the lid? What about with the origami that he brought that waiter girl, did he teleport those there?? No, Duh. He made them/brought them. But do you really wanna see that whole process?
9) haha. no I wouldn't say that. But she also talked about waterboarding and how your body THINKS your drowning. Same concept. Claire wasn't running out of air, her body just thought she was. The person with the hose waterboarding someone isn't freaking out cuz they are drowning.
There are some things that have no explanation but almost every hole you've given can be patched, and if they can't right after the episode you have to wait a bit and see. I am SURE nathan's recovery will come up later. 100 % positive. Do I think its a flawless show? No. But you've named specific holes that I've patched up mostly.
