Lost is... well, Lost.

For the record: I thoroughly enjoyed this show from the very first episode.

I could deal with Lost having broken up seasons. I could deal with waiting a couple of months between episodes from time to time. It was frustrating, but the show was decent enough that it was worth it.

So Lost is starting season 5 in 2009. Wouldn't that make it a year, or at least nearly an entire year between seasons? To be honest, I couldn't even tell you how the last season ended and I'm definitely not going to devote my hours to rewatching it. The only thing worse than rewatching it all would be sitting through an hour long recap of what the hell happened last season... which I'd bet my right arm they're gonna do as a "TWO HOUR LONG SPECIAL!", meaning that you'll have some stupid hour long recap, followed by a normal episode. Just wait and see.

It was a great show, but I'm done with it. I don't care what their reasons are, it's totally unacceptable to break up the show like this and expect people to still sit infront of the television and put up with it.

Before anyone says: "Just be happy they made it for you to watch." Keep in mind that they don't care about you personally, we're just numbers to them. More viewers, more revenue. It's a decent show, with a piss-poor production schedule.

the fact that you're so bitter that it doesn't start sooner shows how much you love it. i give you 20 minutes into the "2 hour" special until you turn on the recap.
....i can't wait either.

I don't really know how things work in the states but here in the UK that's perfectly normal. Shows will pretty much the same time each year, they run continuously until they're offer and then we wait for almost a year until the next series.
I guarantee that within about 10 minutes it'll all come flooding back to you - it's amazing what you remember without knowing it.

The reason is that in the past they have in the past only done the couple of months between seasons. However because of the scale of Lost they've had to air so many repeats whilst they try to get the episodes filmed. This meant a few weeks of episodes followed by a few weeks of repeats. They tried to end this in Season 3 by doing a 6 episode mini-season however these 6 episodes were critically panned. So whilst the following 16 episodes aired with no breaks many people gave up because of those first 6. However half way into Season 3 a deal was signed that Lost would only be on for 3 more seasons which would be shorter.Because of this Season 4-6 are shorter and air mid-season (i.e. January/February). This means that viewers get 17 uninterrupted weeks of episodes followed by a slightly longer wait. At this point in time they've filmed about 8 episodes. Are you saying you'd rather have 8 episodes now followed by 9 episodes next year? Lost is show that benefits from being watched week in week out, not a random schedule.

Lost is the best show I have ever seen and it's well worth waiting a year for. Granted, I don't want to wait that long but I'm addicted enough to it that when it comes back on I'll be glued to the screen, as I'm sure you will. I also recall exactly what happened in the last episode, especially seeing John Locke laying in a casket (I'm sure he'll be brought back some how) and Desmond, my fav character, being reunited with Penny. The only thing I'm still bitter about is that they killed Charlie D: Lol.

Blah Blah Blah. quit your winning we know thats what they think of us, you dont have to remind us that we're just "numbers" to them. besides that did you all forget the writers strike. its what made so many of our shows have half seasons. lost is one of the lucky ones if you ask me. because of that strike there a little late.

So clearly you don't pay attention. It's called the writers strike, happened just as they were airing their last season, which is why it got cut short. The amount of refiguring and reparations they had to make after the Hollywood writers strike is absolutely ludicrous to suggest it can be done in anything less than a year. Yeah, the don't care about you as a person, it's called capitalism - and you're part of it. If you don't care about the makers and the incredible amount of work they put in to a show like this to the point where you can't have patience to wait a year, then what makes you think they care about you - the individual who only has to sit on your couch and watch it.And if you have a problem with the two hour recap then don't watch it. You'll remember how it went, and besides, every show does the recap to get their fans prepared for the next season. If anything it's a courtesy to you.

I'm sorry, but Darlton was amazing at squeeking out extra episodes last season despite the hang up with the writers' strike. I can't wait. Gimme clip episodes. Gimme reruns. Just Gimme 8)

I can agree that it's frustrating, but this tends to be how a lot of series are starting to do shows this year. I'm not certain if this is a permanent change or some residual annoyance from the writer's strike, but I kind of got used to waiting. It took 24 over a year to come back too, which I hated...but what can you do?
Truth is, the strike hurt everyone. It was meant to impact all of us in a negative way. That's sometimes what it takes to provoke a change, unfortunately. But I feel you.
