What is Starbuck?

I think she is a child of a cylon. I know I'm wrong, But it would be cool. Seems boomer and chief had a kid on that planet. Is starbuck Saul and Kate's Love child? Is that why he was so shocked to here that song?

I think that Starbuck is the child of the seventh cylon (Daniel) that Cavil killed way back in the day. It would explain a lot.I also think that he was the piano player in the last episode.

I agree with Maribelle. I think that was Daniel and Starbuck was definately his daughter.
Starbuck has nothing to do with Saul and Ellen. The song is the one the five hear.

WOW, that makes so much more since. I knew I was wrong. Hell, now that last episode was kinda emotional !! Starbuck projecting her dad like boomer did with chief. Thanks for the incite.

Think it's possible that Daniel is still alive? SOMEONE had to send out that song over the airwaves to activate the final 5 and it seems that Starbuck is just realizing that she knows the song. Maybe Cavill boxed all but one copy of Daniel?

If Starbuck is a cylon, and died when she wormholed it back to Earth, then she would have downloaded into a new body somewhere on Earth (or around it)? Why wouldn't the fleet have found a resurrection-type facility? Why doesn't she remember waking up? Was there someone left on the planet?
If Daniel was the 7 model, then he was unable to procreate...who would he have had a child with? Why wouldn't the final five know about Starbuck (at least Ellen)? Do you think she knows but isn't telling?
I think it's a fantastic idea to explain the origins of Starbuck. I hope you are right.

i think Starbuck is Daniel. Ellen said Cavil messed with the genetic code, possibly even changing the gender, star buck was the result. as for the song i think the Final 5 taught starbuck the song, and once they had died Cavil planted her in the fleet just like he did them. If he kept some spare bodies like he did for the 5 she could have resurrected on cavils basestar just like ellen, had her memories altered and then thrown back in that viper and sent to the fleet.
And her visions of her father playing the piano with her represent her sub-concious feelings of abandonment by her cylon creators. maybe star bucks whole life has been so melancholy because she knows she isnt the same as all the humans around her, but isnt wanted by the cylons, her creators.
or not, who knows?

This is kinda a stretch, but what if Starbuck is an even older Cylon model from a really old war that no one knows about, just like with the final 5.
I don't think that's what's goin on, but it's an interesting possibility

We (the wife and I) think Starbuck is, as stated by Giaus three episodes ago, an "angel". When he exposed her to the crew he said that there is life after death if you can face, or even better, embrace death. Starbuck definitely did that when her raptor exploded.
We are also reminded in this last episode, when they remember back to the first meeting between Kara and Lee, that she had never feared dying. The two totally match and would also explain why at the end she just disappeared her mission having been accomplished. She knew she was done and would be moving on, even though she did not know how (just like she could not remember what she actually was) Basically we think she is, instead of an "angel" and "ascended being" of some sort. She broke the cycle of death and rebirth by not fearing death itself.
That's our 2 cents anyway.

Leobin told her she was an angel on the Demetrius. I agree that she was an angel and has been since her return.

the angel theory is really interesting Boombox666, it would explain her disappearing at the end... yes jackieu0225 we do see Laura die in the end... and jacobBB good point Galactica could be the dieing leader... it was the lead ship of the fleet, Laura never really called all the shots so yeah thats really interesting... Starbuck!!! oh Starbuck what a way to end the show... "all this has happened before and it will happen again."this isnt the first time and not the second... hell she could even be first gen cylon... the 5 made the 8, who made the 5?
