The Mentalist:Flames Red...Hot

Ok let me start by saying...the little mind game he played at the beginning of this eposide. Don't know how it happened but I was thinking what he suggested. That in itself it pretty dang cool. I love his "in your face, no holds barred attitude". Don't like what he has to say too bad for you. Myust say I was thrown abit with this one. Never suspect "TOM" Thought it was the last man standing, which it was just not in the way you'd think. Great twist, very well played out. Like the screen when he explain, just what he planned to do to teh man "Red" who killed his family. No beating around the bush, like it, lump it, doesn't matter to me. This is the way it's going to happen and as long as we understand each other great. Just wanted you to know, I know wnad I'm prefectly OK with that.

I liked this episode a lot. It had humor, a bit of revenge, and a twist. This episode had the usual great little tidbit that gets your mind thinking while also showing a side of Jane that give you a more in depth feeling on how he felt about the death of his family. As for the beginning little game he played, it's rather simple how he does it. He first wants you to clear your mind so you're thinking about nothing but his words. He then asks you to think of a shape and then a shape around it; however, he "suggests" it not to be a square. When you think of shapes what are the first four that come to mind? >> A square, rectangle, triangle, and circle. Since he suggested no square, you can rule out the first two because most people think of a rectangle as a square anyways. That just leaves the normal triangle and circle left. It's great knowing how the mind works sometimes and figuring out how to exploit it; that's what I like about this show, there's a deeper mentality to it all.

There's a much easier explanation as to how Jane manipulates you in the beginning. He uses the power of subliminal messaging with his hands to influence you what to think. If you take a look at it again you can clearly see him making the shapes with his hands when he asks to think of the two certain shapes. You may not notice it consciously but subconsciously your mind sees it so that is what you think.
I myself didn't notice it until the second time watching the episode since I already knew what she was thinking, so I was able to see how she was being played. It also explains how everyone else was caught the same way.
Overall I liked the episode. I kinda thought about the guy faking when Jane finds the Moby Dick book but I had brushed it aside. Caught in the Mentalist trap yet again, silly me lol

Also ablout the mind game.
Triangles and circles are the two simplest shapes you learn as a kid and are recalled fastest when asked for two shapes. It has to do with the encoding and retrevial of Short and long term memories. Therefore these are the shapes most most likely to be asked to choose, especially in a time sensitive scenrio.
It is also the same when asked to pick a nmber between 1 & 10. Most likely 7 follwed by 3 & 4 (which add to 7 - can't remember if this has a reason/meaning or not)
Paper, scissors, rock: Scissors
Red, yellow, blue. Blue: mentioned last and considered a safe colour (assciated with calmness)
