Dollhouse Review - 1.06 'Man On The Street' Part 2

A truly visually stunning fight between the two occurs in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant which involves all sorts of hijacks including Echo getting slammed onto a car! But oh no, she isn't there to kill him. Someone inside the Dollhouse has put a little programme into her that reveals information to Ballard. She tells him that there are twenty Dollhouses world-wide and are connected to the highest governments and he can't take them alone. I think Ballard now has an ally in the Dollhouse and a very valuable one indeed.

However, Echo decides to shoot a cop for cover and flees the scene. Just when you think all the double crossing is over for the week, Hearn's attack on Mellie has a bit of a surprise. As she is getting beaten up, a nice haiku in the form of a phone call from Miss DeWitt activates a hypnotic imprint inside Mellie and she kills Hearn. Ah, the answer of who is she really is revealed. She is an active called November who has been spying on Ballard. Well, she'll have a lot more time to do so as Ballard is suspended after his gun was used to shoot the cop. But I'm sure that won't stop him....not without a fight.

Questions:-

- Who in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard?

- Is the spy in the Dollhouse with Alpha?

- What would you do with an Active yourself?

The story is in full motion now and I'm sure you all would agree we are heading for an exciting season and Echo-mania will squash these horrible cancellation rumours! Who's with me?

See you next time

- Who in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard?1 of 3 people is my guess, Echo's Handler, Miss DeWitt (mainly due to she i so lenient with the actives and does seem different than the other people running dollhouse), or the asian chick that helps the scientist dude (i suck with names, and she Does have the access, knowledge and invisibility to pull it off)- Is the spy in the Dollhouse with Alpha?I think the person tried to do something with echo but it ended up backfiring (assuming its not Echo's Handler)- What would you do with an Active yourself?I currently cannot think of a fantasy worth the cost, but I may sooner or later.

I think Dollhouse is a great show and i hope it doesnt get cancelled but i think they are rushing through the storyline. Its been 6episodes and already so much has happened. I think the writers know there running out of time so there getting through the story really fast so that the show doesnt get cut without a proper ending.

Id say its echs handler. I doubt anybody in dollhouse is with alpha. Aperently he hates everybody in it seeing how he went on murder spree.I would never use an active! Its just wrong!Btw i thought it was so funny how the fbi guy was getting bet up by the girl and then he turned really viscious:D

@Adamjr - I disagree, i know that so much has happened already but it isn't getting old and i don't think that the show should be written off until they start repeating themselves. Also they have written these episodes before/without cancellation rumours in mind. I doubt Whedon would compromise the vision of the show and try to mash it all together.
- Who in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard?I first thought Langton, Echo's handler, but then i don't believe he has the knowledge to put in that kind of message, i think it might be the scientist guy and he simply hasnt shown his cards yet, or his new assistant. My immediate reaction though was that she was supposed to be saying that in order to get him to back off or so that they could somehow control him by making him believe that someone was helping him.- Is the spy in the Dollhouse with Alpha?Depending on who it is, i think that if it is the scientist creator then it's unlikely. but if it's the new girl (their names elude me) then perhaps, since she could have been sent in by Alpha.- What would you do with an Active yourself?Hard to know, i i had enough money to afford one I dont think i would need one, since any problems i have stem from not being able to pay the bills.

- Who in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard?I think it's either Topher's assistant, just because she's been so inconspicious and hasn't really added to any storylines, but has been there...That's a general red-flag for something. Or it's Echo's handler, but I think that's a bit obvious maybe.
- Is the spy in the Dollhouse with Alpha?Hmm. I don't know, and I can't decide. Either way would work, though i'd like to think...not. Just because it would leave room for other plots and it's always good when you've got several things going on at once.
- What would you do with an Active yourself?Ooh. I honestly can't think of anything besides sex.
Go figure. =P

As to who is helping Ballard, I'm with everyone that thinks the secret helper is the "Asian chick" as opposed to the all too obvious Langton. Or perhaps both of them. Perhaps Langton distracted Topher at which point the "Asian chick" snuck in the defect. So I definitely liked this episode most, but what I found most compelling was probably the guest star of the week (Patton Oswalt, who if anybody didn't catch was the voice of Remy in Ratatouille...hence the "Bouncy the Rat" jokes) and the additional mythology into the Dollhouse itself.Still not sold that Eliza is what is making this show...Great review! And looking forward to next week's episode.

No one mentioned Amy Acker yet (the doctor). She would be the perfect candidate for contacting Ballard. Also, she's clearly smart enough.Another thought that I've been toying with: what if Alpha is in fact agent Ballard? Is that possible? Perhaps Alpha or someone else is using the agent persona in order to bring the dollhouse down (or in order to get something from Echo).

Who in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard?I'm not convinced anyone in the Dollhouse is helping Ballard. It seems a little too convenient to me, having that secret message hidden in the engagement. I'm not sure that the message isn't part of the original engagement and that the Dollhouse aren't just continuing to give Ballard what he needs...
Is the spy in the Dollhouse with Alpha?Mmmm... given I'm not sure that there is a spy, this is a tough one. Even with or without a spy, I'm pretty sure that the remote wipe in Gray Hour means that Alpha has some kind of access to the Dollhouse, to hack into the frequency of their phone if nothing else. More interesting question... who is Alpha? We've never seen his face - could he be someone we already know???
What would you do with an Active yourself?Geez... I really don't know... I think that thinking about what to do might be more fun than actually doing anything!
