PSYCH: "The Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part" Review

PSYCH's return for the second half of Season 5 had me excited for a couple of reasons. In general, I love the show, so I was happy to have it back. I was also looking forward to the return of high class art thief Pierre Despereaux, played by the always enjoyable Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride.) And of course, I was interested in finding out if Shawn and Juliet's relationship status would finally move from "won't they" to "will they." With anticipation running high, I can't help but feel that, even though this one included all the parts that make up a great episode of PSYCH, it just didn't live up to my expectations.

When I heard that Cary Elwes would be reprising his role as Pierre Despereaux, the debonair art thief whom the PSYCH detectives captured in Season 4, I thought they made a great choice. A haughty, impeccably-dressed art thief with no shortage of witticisms is the perfect foil for Shawn and his fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants detective style. And like I said the first time around, Elwes is the perfect choice to play the role. Looking back at "Extradition: British Columbia," Elwes' portrayal of Despereaux was the highlight of the episode, so for his second appearance, I hoped they'd surround him with a better storyline. Unfortunately, they didn't.
