Lizzy Caplan (Party Down) will guest star in ABC’s midseason comedy MR. SUNSHINE, which stars Matthew Perry as self-involved arena manager Ben Donovan, who begins to reevaluate his life after turning forty.
Deadline reports that Caplan will play a woman Ben spends the night with only to see her the next morning at work. It seems she’s also his boss Crystal’s (Allison Janney) new assistant. Can you say awkward?
Mr. Sunshine also stars Andrea Anders (Better off Ted), James Lesure (Las Vegas), Nate Torrance (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), and Portia Doubleday. Other guest stars will include Nick Jonas, Jimmy Connors, James Taylor and Jorge Garcia.
In addition to playing Party Down‘s Casey, Caplan portrayed Amy Burley in True Blood and this year she appeared in the films Hot Tub Time Machine and 127 Hours. She is currently developing an HBO comedy with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay based on Julie Klausner’s memoir "I Don’t Care about Your Band."
Mr. Sunshine is expected to premiere on ABC early next year.
