So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 9 "1 of 10 Voted Off" Review

The results show tonight opened with a Sonya Tayeh routine featuring the Top 10. Sometimes I wish they did group dances every single show. They tend to be full of life and the music they select makes the dance routines memorable. But the tone definately changed as the episode progressed, with realization that one of the contestants will be sent home.

Not too much of a surprise that we see a girl first in the bottom three after watching last week where all three were females. But Christina was the first one. Kent was told he was safe, and same thing with Adechike. The next group comes on stage and Alex Wong is safe (no surprise there), Jose and Ashley are also safe, leaving Melinda also in the bottom three. And may I add what a fashion statement those high waisted pants were of Melinda's. Wouldn't be scouring the department stores for a similar pair anytime soon. WOW!

The last group gets their news: Lauren is safe. Robert is in the bottom three, and Billy Bell survives the krump and is safe. So this week one male does in fact make it into the bottom three. These results a surprise to you? Nigel tells Robert first that he is safe and then he tells Melinda that the public is not connecting with her, and he thought she should leave, but Mia and Adam overruled him, which means Cristina is out.

Goodbye Christina. Who did you want to go home?

I was very disappointed with who was in the bottom three this time. I thought the three up there didn't deserve to be there. Because I'm not an expert on dance I figure if I focus more on the all star the newbie did a bad job. With the three in the bottom this week I focused on them. There was emotion, passion, and good technique in their dancing. Christina should have stayed. The bottom three should have been, Billy - I love him to, but hey he sucked on Wed. My attention was on comfort not billy. Two would be adecheke. He did a better job this time, but I still couldn't get in to his performance and three would have been as much I hate to admit it Kent. I love Kent he's my fav. but his attitude was all wrong in that dance. I think the only reason they were safe was because one their fan base and two they have personalites that the audience can connect to.

I completely dislike this new style. The results have become too biased. By making the boys compete against the girls create a huge gender gap. Obviously the fans ( which are mostly girls as you can see on tv) are goinf to vote or faill in love with the men ( Hello jose! he's bollywood was not bollywood.)I think that to at least make this new format work they should created a bottom 2 for the boys and a bottom 2 for the girls and then the judges take their pick. This will be at least make boys be in the bottom 3, who deserve to be in the bottom 3.And, obviously started with 6 GIRLS.
Its sad, sytycd is no longer as much as how you well you can dance, now its about 85% personality.
