After starring in the struggling series Tru Calling and Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku is returning to television with the new TNT pilot Bird Dog, Deadline reports.
The 29-year-old actress will play Gail McGrath, a cop who is forced to partner with her estranged father, also a policeman. Mike Robe (Nora Roberts' Northern Lights) wrote the script and will direct the pilot.
After breaking through on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Faith, Dushku starred on the Fox mystery series Tru Calling, which was canceled after two years. Dushku returned to the network in 2009 for Buffy creator Joss Whedon's sci-fi show Dollhouse. It, too, was canceled after two seasons.
The actress, also known for the films Bring It On and True Lies, guest-starred on The Big Bang Theory earlier this month. She also was seen on the sidelines of Dancing with the Stars this past season, cheering on boyfriend Rick Fox.
