'Stargate: Universe' Cancellation Puts Kibosh on 'Atlantis' Film

Stargate Universe

A new casualty of 'Stargate: Universe's' cancellation has emerged: the planned 'Stargate: Atlantis' DVD movie.

Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi took to his blog to answer fan questions and shared the news.

"I'm sorry to say but the cancellation puts the brakes on whatever progress the 'SGA' movie had made in the past month, shelving it indefinitely," Mallozzi wrote.

"The cancellation of 'SGU' is very bad news for those looking forward to an 'Atlantis' movie," he said.

Syfy pulled the plug on 'SGU' in early December. The remaining episodes will air as planned in the spring.

Mallozzi said plans for a new 'Stargate' series are off the table for now, as are the films, but a new show isn't out of the question.

i don't believe a single word out of mallozzi's mouth anymore. no one should.
He never took it too serious with the truth.

sgu was a 2 season deal and burned up so much money .. for nothing. stone-like plummeting ratings, horror-dvdsales, merchandise revenues pretty much non existent. worst case scenario for the stargate-franchise came true because of ignorance and incompetence meets massive ownage by fans and new mgm-management.

i hope mgm, and maybe even syfy =), have learned a management-lesson with sgu.
the hard way.

I'm not surprised it's cancelled; I was never a fan of Battle Star Galactica either. SG:SG1 & SG:A were terrific and I would love to see an SG:A (or SG:SG1) movie.
