Based off of the light novel series by Shinichi Kimura with
illustrations by Kobuichi and Muririn that began in 2009 alongside a
manga by the same author with artwork by Sacchi, Kore wa Zombie desu ka?
has made the leap to anime form from Studio Deen. The light novel
series has six volumes under its belt, offering plenty of material to
work with, since the manga version is running in a monthly magazine and
only one collection has been published so far. With zombies being big
these days in a lot of different forms, this series has the potential to
be something fun in the genre, something we don't always get as most
zombie related flicks are serious in their horror nature. Excepting of
course Shaun of the Dead.
The show revolves around Ayumu, a young man who was killed only to be revived by Yuu, an attractive young woman with a gothic look about her. The two are currently living together with him as something of a servant of hers, but he still goes through his normal daily routines of things like going to school and so forth. She doesn't speak to him, writing down only notes, but there are sequences in which she gets to talk through visuals in Ayumu's mind, which is all light and amusing. For Ayumu, his life is beset with troubles at times, such as seeing him getting hit by a bus while rescuing a cat, but sometimes it hits bigger problems. Such as when he's spending some time in the cemetery where he feels at piece. At least until a chainsaw wielding young woman named Haruna arrives to cause trouble and starts beating the crap out of him because of what he is. At least until she ends up crashing with him and Yuu for a bit.
