Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Novel 4: Disappearance of Haruhi Review

The setting is the week before Christmas in thewinter of Kyon’s discontent. The cause of his discontent, Haruhi Suzumiya, has decided that the SOS Brigade will join in the celebration of Mr. Christ’s birth by having a Christmas Eve party in the club room. Ever since meeting Haruhi he has been living a life less ordinary. He has met time travelers, aliens and Espers and been unable to laugh these off as he has seen giant creatures, other spaces, time traveled, was present for a murder mystery and even experienced an endless summer and copped with the events beyond his control while griping about wanting an ordinary life throughout. But Christmas is a time when wishes may be granted isn’t it? Kyon wakes on the morning of December 18th to find his life is the same with sister and cat waking him up. A conversation with a friend on the way to school seems off putting though Kyon writes it off. But a sudden cold outbreak that has decimated the class and an empty seat behind him has him on edge. Then a person walks through the door that shouldn’t be there. Who can’t be there and suddenly Kyon’s world is askew.
