Lame

I call bullshit.

Lazy scriptwriting. Too much American TV? I think its time for me to quit this show. I thought it had something unique going for it. Wish I could laugh. Instead it just wasted my time as, yah, guess what, I don't watch splatter.. Oh and yes, I was telling everyone how great this show was. Well, not anymore.

Another realist drama falls prey to the sloth of a limited psyche.

(Spoiler alert)
I' m not sure if your talking about the last episode "effy". I watched this show from the start and loved the first 2 seasons.... then they changed the cast which sucked but i dealt with it and kept watching. The 3rd season was alright.. but now after this episode ... I AM DONE. How could they kill off fredie??? The 3rd season was good because it was Fredie, Cook, and JJ. They based the season on their friendship and how outside elements (Effy for one) effected their relationship. Then in the 4th season they decided to make character specific episodes, which i didn't like in the first place but it was still a watchable show... But now they kill off one of the best characters on the show!?!?! ... the whole point of this post is basically the writers went the wrong way with the show.
They should have never changed the cast in the first place. They should have never done episodes based on one character of the show. Most importantly, don't kill off one of the best characters on the show!
I'm done watching and hoping that this show will get better.
DONE.

i agree that this was just ridiculous but about changing the cast, well that was the point from the start. The point of this show was to get young british talent to get recognised. They get 2 seasons then they change the cast for new people to get a chance.

I agree, this season has been sooo shit, i blanked out during most of the episode 'Effy' then woke up at the ending when freddie got killed. him and cook were the only decent actors on the show!
They shouldnt of even changed the cast in the first place, or they could of at least came up with some amazing story lines. The first 2 seasons were all about fun. i havent laughed once during season 3 and 4 cos its all about miserable stuff =/

The episodes have always been focused on a specific character, however it just wasn't quite to the same extent. As for killing off Freddie, I think that was possibly a good move. You say you like how the 3rd season focused on the friendship of Freddie Cook and JJ, well now the final episode with these characters will show the effects of his departure on the other 2. I could be wrong, but they have potentially set up a very good final episode for the second generation. I did prefer the 1st generation characters, but I think it could just be the Lazenby affect. After Connery the producers knew that no-one would measure up, and whomever they chose as Bond would disappoint, so they hired G.L as a one time thing. They were prepared for nobody to like him and that way they could move on to the next actor who would comparatively seem great. I think the 3rd generation of Skins may be perceived as better because people are used to the cast changes now.

season 1 and 2 were excellent. season 3 & 4 were a yawn and lacked depth, except for freddie, cook and effy....but when they killed off the best character of the season, I thought 'damn it!! , another TV show bites the dust'... a truly dumb move. I cant see Skins evolving from this now. It would just be try hard if they did. Hopefully the actor who plays Freddie gets cast in something great......but then again, he can only go up from this mess.

How can you see Skins not evolving? It'll be an entirely new cast next season. I don't get why everyone is so pissed about Freddie getting bashed in the head with a bat. There's only one more episode left with this cast. Also, while the actor that plays Freddie is super hot, his character was pretty annoying. I just hope seasons 5&6 can find a balance in between (1/2) and (3/4). Of course they can't show them getting fucked up and banging all the time like 1/2, but hopefully it's not as dark as 3/4. I don't know that's just my opinion.

I disagree with most of you, I've never been let down by Skins ever! At the start I was pretty bummed that they wouldn't be using the same cast fromt he first two series for series 3 and 4. But it turns out that's how the Skins writers planned it from the start. Usually college is only two years so each cast would only last two years because they were following a group of teens who go to college.
Get over it.
As for killing Freddie off, I think they're actually planning to kill off one character from each cast at the end of Skins. They did the same with Chris.
You do all remember Chris right? I loved that guy and was totally pissed when they killed him off but then again if they killed off someone I didn't like then I would be that bothered by it. So that's why they probably killed off Freddie because they knew it would get a reaction from the viewers.
Trust me if they ever do a series 5 and 6 you'll all forget bout this cast (and Freddie's death) and focus on the new ones.
But on a more positive note don't you just love Cook? At the start I thought he was a total prat but in the end I loved him!
(Oh by the way they've always focused each episode on each character and the last one on all of them)
