OUTCASTS Series 1 Episode 8 Review

OUTCASTS Series 1 Episode 8 - And so Outcasts ends with no resolution in sight. The official twitter account announced that there will be no series 2, so let’s look back on what we got out of series 1.

Well, not a lot actually. Outcasts seemed to suffer from American-envy, trying to create something that would (perhaps rightly) play well in America and doing such a terrifically bad job of it that it all folded like a house of cards. There were too many plot points, too many characters with too little personality. There was the mix of arc storyline and episode storyline that was more suited to twenty episodes than to eight.

The virus storyline was perhaps the most interesting storyline of the series and it was shoved into the last two episodes like an afterthought. Why create a virus that targeted individuals (and needed to be connected to the main Lifeform intelligence, apparently) when the Lifeform wanted everyone dead? Why take so long to kill them when, being so advanced, the Lifeform could surely have found a quicker way to eradicate everyone? Why did it favour the ACs? What was the Lifeform? We will never know. Tyger Tyger burning Bright, in the forests of the night, what immortal hand or eye could frame the fearful symmetry.

Outcast should not get a series 2 because the writer truly does not know how to write a sci-fi show.

Lesson's for future science fiction writers if you know their is a chance your show might get cancelled then write a story arc that fits what is given you, don't bring in more sub plots and plot points knowing you can't answer it.

Carpathians were screwed, humans were screwed and we the audience who apparently left in droves after episode 1 were Royally screwed.

I too favoured the AC's and the overacting of the Ugly Betty star because he at least brought something to the table.

Lost was good Si fi so was BSG and I could name some more Yankee shows if OUtcast suffers from American-envy then so be it at least yanks know how to end a show.

So here is what should have happened 1.Tate makes a better speech to the lifeforms .
2. fleur and the AC's bring peace between them in the carpartihans.
3. Cass trys to find fleur now that there is no threat.
4. Jack becomes vice president
5.Stella her daughter and Tipper become a family of 3 .
6. the c-10 group fess up to be the ones who brought the virus to Carpathia.
7. Julian is sprung free from jail and he and the c-10 build another colony just like Mitchell wanted to do in the episode 1
8. Or the native planet people figure out another way to kill this group in one final blow and the the AC's become the superior race.
