Merlin's Cowardice and Arthur's stupidity

This episode was the final straw.

Merlin is now simply a coward. He would not reveal his abilities to Morgana, even when half the town was round up to be executed. His secret would be safer with her than anyone else in the show because she is in the same predicament. Yet he would let all those innocent people die so that Morgana could come to terms with herself instead of just telling her! Gaius's reasons were slightly more understandable, but not really. This is even more ridiculous considering that lancelot already found out(after only one episode), and no consequences came up as a result. Yet somehow Morgana finding out would be the end of the world???

Arthur just seems to get dumber and dumber each episode. It isn't funny anymore. The once and future king is so oblivious to his own servant, it strains credibility even in a show with magic and dragons.

ok, first of all check arthurian legend and search for morgana, factor in the dragon's warning and you get why merlin didn't say anything.for those times it is actually laughable that a prince and his servant would even talk to eachother about anything but the servants commands, so it is kind of natural that arthur is oblivious seeing as his intrest in merlin's life excepting his service should be non-existent

Check Arthurian legend about Merlin being a young adult and keeping his magic a secret. You aren't going to find it. Morgana in some versions isn't evil, and in most is the actual sister of Arthur and the mother of mordred. If Morgana is fated to be evil by the legend(which they don't hew to in many other areas) then at least have her get to being evil in a believable fashion.Arthur saw Merlin summoning a whirlwind- he is an idiot if he doesn't get it.

Well, in Arthur's defense, what he saw was two people, Merlin and his friend, summoning the whirlwind. As Merlin's friend took responsibility for it, he didn't have any reason to suspect Merlin.
