SKINS (MTV) “Eura;Everyone” Review

SKINS (MTV) “Eura;Everyone” Episode 10 – Tonight’s episode was the season finale of MTV’s Skinsand the culmination of a journey with a handful of characters I’ve grown to care about.

From Skins‘ first episode’s opening sequence, I was intrigued by Eura’s silence and empty gaze. A little bit of her mystery faded when she finally spoke, but I still thought she was interesting and I wish I knew more about her. I enjoyed the time she was onscreen both when she was silent and when she was speaking.

I haven’t been that into the Tony/Tea/Betty triangle this season, not because the story is uninteresting, but because I’ve had trouble getting past Blaine Morris (Betty) and James Newman’s (Tony) acting. While there has been some improvement over the course of the season, I still felt largely the same tonight. Tea’s acting has been fine, but the scenes paired with either Betty or Tony often come off feeling unnatural and awkward which ends up pulling me out of the drama. The same might be said for Ron Mustafaa (Abbud) who had some really funny lines tonight that were lost to awkward delivery. Nevertheless, I thought the Abbud/Daisy storyline was cute and I liked that Daisy was receptive when they finally talked about his feelings. Read More...
