Heroes "Villains" ~ A ploy?

This episode took us back to when we all cared about the show. Some of us still tune in, hoping it will return to its original glory (me included). Even though I knew this week was probably just a ploy to snatch back some old viewers, I (mostly) enjoyed it.

Rather than being forced to watch characters I couldn't care less about, the show focused on some of the most interesting. It also gave us some new background pieces on villains that make me question who the bad guys really are. So...who do you think is a true villain and who do you think is just misunderstood? I think that it is irrelevant whether it's a ploy, or an episode, or a fluke of fate - I know I enjoyed it (well, more than most flashbacks in S1 and S2).
I don't quite get the issue of not caring about the new chars. To be honest, I'm pretty sure we'd be sicker and tireder if the old characters were all we were stuck with. One season, fine. Two, okay. Three of the same, well, I don't know. I think it's good they're trying other storylines. There's only so much Parkman angst over his wife I could take. (Of course, I won't pretend to not have issues with some of the directions taken S3)
Plus, I remember really not caring about the chars (and being deathly bored) until about half of S1 (which I watched under the duress of a friend - to whom I'm really grateful now!). Same boring until halfway happened for me in S2.
I guess what I'm saying is that I'm reserving judgment until the last episode, and I sometimes wish other people would too.
As for the episode:I am not happy about the implied Sylar-Elle pending relationship, though those scenes were well handled.Peter - Give him back his emo hair!Bennet - I still can't quite like the guy.

Hi, uncommitted. Let me clarify: I wasn't talking about the new characters specifically when I said "Rather than being forced to watch characters I couldn't care less about..." I was actually just talking about the boring ones, past and present. I find many of the old ones rather dull and some of the new ones very entertaining. I've also had favorite characters that were overused and underdeveloped until I lost interest. Some characters annoyed me at first and have grown on me. It's a mixed bag. I tend to enjoy the villains of any story more than the heroes, so the episode had lots of juicy bits for me. I want the show to live up to its potential and I continue tuning in, hoping for the best.
And...Peter's floppy wig was hilarious. The Sylar/Elle thing maintained my interest. I wonder if it is significant later on? You think she's the mother of his future little boy?

serena_a: Ah that makes more sense, and on the old-and-new-borning-chars, I agree with you completely. Some just don't hold my attention. Heh. I remember wishing vehemently all through S1 that Claire would be killed. In this Season - well, reserving judgment for now. (I keep having to remind myself to do that).
I'm not sure if the future boy would be his - though it's possible. Was that flashback some 5 years into the future? (I can't remember) and the kid seems to be around 4-5? That would mean that by the other storyline, Sylar would have to get a girlfriend rather fast. The actual logic aside, yeah, I think it would be Elle if anyone.
There are pretty much no other eligible females. Daphne is Parkman's (or so he'd like to think), Maya hates Sylar's guts, Claire's related to him (plus dislikes him), Nikki-look-alike is a dead end, and
I'm drawing a blank. That's a short list so I hope I'm just missing some female characters. Speaking of which! I would be rather amused if Sylar hooked up with Caitlin (I hope we get the story on her one of these days. Wild theory that amuses me: super-villainness of S4. Nothing like a woman scorned, eh Peter?)
Yes, the villains do tend to be more, well, 3D. Dynamic, tragic, amusing, or just plain convoluted characters. They're the ones that have realistic (non-altruistic) character motivations. :D
I'm a little leery of what they've done to Surresh this season, though. Such a complete turnabout. I had liked his blundering do-more-damage-than-good moral uprightness.

But if Claire is not the mother of Sylars child... why does he and the child are living in her house is that not just strange?
And what will happend to claire i the future? She is just gonna be mega Bad! Because of her mom?And why everyone in the future groes up... only Molly is she gonna stay an child for ever? Because u see Micah goinf from an little boy to an Teenager... And clair from an teen to adult... But when u see Matt and Daphne in the future Molly is still the same?

Sylar/Gabriel is actually Claire's uncle. Remember, Angela Petrelli recently informed him that she's his mom. And Claire's biological dad is Nathan Petrelli. So Sylar and Claire having a kid together would be incest. I'm not sure why Sylar and his son were in Claire's house. Maybe visiting; maybe the mom of his son abandoned them and Claire helps out. I'm guessing that's a storyline we'll hear about soon (hopefully).

Actually, it can't be that Claire helps out. I'm pretty sure I recall her saying something along the lines of "You hurt me, you took my house away from me, I am so going to make you pay." (paraphrased from vague memory).

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I totally forgot about that little tidbit. I'm surprised I did, actually, since it was such an emotional scene (death of his son, etc.). I have selective amnesia about that show I guess. Or maybe I was just distracted by Claire's wig hairline and android-like appearance.
