Just a query, Bones.

Now I know that this is a TV show, it's not real (though based on a real person) still, I can't help but make this small silly observation: the victims are rarely ever fat.

Yes. I said fat.

I'm not American and it may be that there is a correlation between weight and murder, if there is, this whole rant-thing would be pointless therefore feel free to stop reading now. If not, let me make it clear the Bones is my most favourite show, period. I love it almost as much as chocolate, and that is a whole lot of love coming from me. Also, I'm a late one, I missed two seasons (and am currently catching up) - if there's an overweight victim in one of the episodes excuse me and PLEASE do tell.

According to an average of the latest statistics at least 4 in 10 people are overweight (this includes obese and whatnot). You would think with such a good amount, that there'd be at least one killed every so often, right?

I don't know why this is an issue for me, but I'm sure it would be a gripping episode, Bones' literal comments - hilarious for the viewers of course - and Hodgins' more sarcastic ones, then there's Booth. Come on, I know all you viewers know I have a point...

I really don't think I have said anything offensive, but if I have: No offence -I didn't mean it, and sorry.

Yup. That's about it.

Keep in mind here, kids, what a uproar that would spark... the female cast of this show is the usual Hollywood uber-skinny, and the males are buffed out (even Hodgins!) so if all of a sudden the almost anorexic cast were to be cracking fat jokes while slicing and dicing people of "normal" and above size, that would look really, really, really bad. How about we hope for a more realistic sized character? Maybe a female squint in the rotation that is bigger than a size 2? They could go for super huge-- make her a size 6 (gasp!)
But where would they find such a person? Not many in Hollywood.

I agree with EatMe and bengela - you don't see many overweight victims. Hollywood has made an effect in that area.
It could be that if they were to do a show that highlighted a person's obesity, it could be viewed as politically uncorrect and even mocking. Which is a load of hooey, since weight issues are part of most people's lives.
On the other hand, most of the victims lack skin or are severely disfigured so even if they were overweight it wouldn't necessarily show in their remains.
I'm going to have to go back and watch all the previous episodes to try and spot a weight-challenged person. Any reason to watch more Bones.

Oh my gosh, I actually got a response!
I'm not really sure it would cause any type of controversy, Brennan always tells people to loose weight when she sees them so it's already part of the show.
There are plenty of actors who aren't Barbies and Kens in Hollywood - they could either appreciate that this show incorporated a fat person like them, or lash out because of the very valid points the actors would (or should) make.
Of course, most of the victim would be remains like Sanisi said, but imagine the fun they'll have when they are figuring out how it finally became a skeleton, how the body was disposed, you know...

Howard Epps' mother was also, as stated by Brennan, "morbidly obese", although she wasn't a victim or a killer, just a sort of peripheral psychopath.

There are shows that relish the more full figured woman- such as ER.. however, no chubby men in this show! But I guess the compliment to a woman with large curves in this society is a small man, which we have plenty of in Bones.
And if I remember right- a few of the re-enactments have chubby men hauling people off in vans and the like, but I can not think

of the episode.... It also bugs me, that in The Big Bang Theory, the only women they can get are chubby ones. Obviously, I am a little chubby, but would *never* date someone smaller than me! Makes me feel like a giant!
*never meaning, would not automatically be attracted to- in the right circumstances small men can be very pleasurable- like Clark for example...

Do you mean 'small' as in short or thin?
And I disagree, of the very few women which have appeared as partners in The Big Bang Theory two were quite thin. It could be just me overlooking their choice of actor because I absolutely love that show too (not more than Bones, obviously).
:P

Short and thin. I am not typically attracted to tall skinny men, or short men of any weight. It is not them per say, it is how my own insecurities would flourish around them. I actually like the larger chubby men the best- I would pass right over Booth to go for the grizzly bear of a guy with a beer gut and a nice smile. Also they tend to be less full of themselves.
But we are getting off topic...
The girl that Koothrapali just hooked up with is very overweight and Leonard had the stint with the doctor, also overweight. The girls that seem to be unobtainable are the skinny ones- with exception to the equally geeky ones. They make plenty of jokes about finding the overweight chicks because of low self esteem. I love TBBT, but the fat jokes are very presumptuous (this show is based on stereotypes, so I can not blame them).

Yeah...the puppy (I didn't get why Angela called him that). The writer totally read this. Next week, be expecting an overweight victim. Hoorah.

Puppy- Angela's endearing term for young man, not hot, but cute. Otherwise she might have called him a stud, or something else. She seems to like men that are not the typical hollywood attractors- I like to think she is repulsed by the arrogance that they have a tendency to carry.
