TV Ratings: 'American Idol' top three strong for FOX, 'Law & Order: SVU' finale up Wednesday


Fast National ratings for Wednesday, May 18, 2011"American Idol's" ratings held tight to last week's performance night numbers, winning the night for FOX and bringing its overall numbers back up with a return to a 2-hour broadcast. The night's most noteworthy season finale, NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," also improved from its last outing.FOX raked in 23 million viewers and an 13.1 rating/21 share in households for the night, with CBS (9.1 million, 5.8/9) following in second. ABC (5.98 million, 3.7/6) came in third, followed by NBC (5 million, 3.7/6) and the CW (1.5 million, 1.1/2). The adults 18-49 demographic also belonged to FOX, with a 7.2 rating, triple its closest competiition -- ABC and CBS -- which tied with a 2.2 average.
