'Modern Family,' 'Mad Men' and a few underdogs top first Critics' Choice Television Awards nominations


The Critics' Choice Awards branch out with a strictly TV kudo-fest on June 20 -- and topping its list of nominees are award favorites "Modern Family," "Mad Men" and "30 Rock," as well as a few surprise entries from fan favorites like "Fringe," "Justified" and "Archer.""Modern Family" leads the way with six nominations, including mentions for Best Comedy and five entrants into the Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Comedy categories. New series "Game of Thrones," "The Killing" and "The Walking Dead" are all well-represented in the drama categories -- while enduring (and often overlooked) comedies "Parks and Recreation," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Cougar Town" are received multiple nominations.
