Hmmm..

So, I guess everybodys vampire crazy all of a sudden. If you would have said even 2 years ago that people would love books and movies about vampires and werewolves and that stuff I would have thought you were crazy! But I love these! There's romance, drama, murder myster...c'mon who wouldnt love that? With the twilight books, it seems to have sparked everyones interest in vampires...so at least this show will get me by until the twilight movies come out. :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..............you just had to mention Twilight! I also love True Blood, but unlike you I have always loved supernatural stuff and I know tons of people who watched vampire shows like Buffy or Angel back in the day. I think it is unfair to compare True Blood to Twilight! First off the Southern Vampire series came out 4 years before the twilight series even began, second the plots are nowhere similar. It bothers me when people compare two very different vampire shows! The Twilight books in no way influenced the popularity of this show........

Ann Rice, "Interview w a Vamp", "Wes Craven's Vampire In Brooklyn" -- some of us has been vamp fanatics for ages.
meanwhile, there are those who just hop bandwagons...

So just to make myself a little more clear I guess...I never said which came first, twilight or true blood. I was just making the observation, just like Cosmopolitan magazine did in their November issue, that vampires in True Blood and Twilight are the hot new thing. Just making an observation, not judging...I really, truly, thoroughly enjoy both of them very much and am glad to see that others do to. Sorry if I offended anyone, just like to discuss these things. :)

I don't think noone was offended but everybody is right! no vampire show looks alike! Some show vampires who eat, bears sunlight and live a normal life, what I like in True Blood is the true nature of vampires for once, they are really different from human in evry way not only because of the fangs! I like also the portrait of the humans attracted by vampire blood too! and all the political stuff sets us right into real political wanderings... But what I like the most has not been shown yet, more fantastic and supernatural creatures other than vampires, shapeshiters and werewolves! plus the deep romance and the attraction between Bill and Sookie is just wonderfully played !

Anne Rice has one of the largest followings in the world for her books. Some of the Vampire books and films by other writers are also up there in most peoples list of "best ever". There's always a LOT of fans of this genre, it's just unfortunate there aren't always good vampire books/films/tv shows to watch.

I haven't read any of the Anne rice books, but I loved the Souther Vampire Series, how do the two writers compare?
