Terri - SideReel Review

Azazel Jacobs directs a gentle and heartwarming coming of age ‘indie’ film, Starring Jacob Wysocki (Terri) and John C. Reilly (Mr. Fitzgerald). Terri is a smoothly paced and entertaining film that captures the anguish of an outsider teen quite well, without being trite. Jacobs is a veteran of independent films and he seems to have honed his abilities of storytelling.

The stand out performance of the film came from Creed Bratton. Bratton is known as ‘Creed’ from the US version of ‘The Office,’ and plays Terri’s Uncle that suffers from Alzheimer’s. Bratton’s character supplies the film with some depth and drama as well as a catalyst for Terri’s growing maturity.

‘Terri’ is a great alternative to the extravagant summer blockbuster movies, but it might be too light for it to get any real buzz from the mainstream media. Although it was a pleasant film there are more interesting ‘indie’ films worth your time such as ‘Beginners’, ‘Buck’ and ‘The Trip.’
