Ted Danson Describes New CSI Character as "Phil Jackson"

At the TCA Summer Press Tour, actorTed Danson talked to the TV critics on hand about his new role as supervisor, D.B. Russell, on the granddaddy of modern crime procedurals, CBS' CSI

Danson said that Russell was "a family man being brought in to make the team work as best as possible." He likened his character to a "Phil Jackson-type" who "comes in to handle a group of very talented people on a slippery slope because of what happened last season." Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said that she wanted to bring in a man who didn't have a tortured past and had actually "figured out that balance between work and family and has a wife who calls him at the office."  Read More...
