Nicole Richie has been a reality star, TV personality and author, but mentor? That may take some getting used to. Richie will be a fashion mentor on NBC's new show 'Fashion Star,' which has a twist to differentiate it from other fashion design reality competitions. Richie previewed the show Wednesday on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC).
On 'Fashion Star,' fourteen designers will compete to design collections for three retailers -- Macy's, H&M, and Saks. But unlike many shows where designers create high-end fashion garments more suited to a Siberian runway, the clothes have to be wearable and desirable to the general public. "Let's say H&M buys a designers collection for that week -- you can go to H&M and buy it the next day," Richie said.
