Emmy Awards 2011: 'Friday Night Lights' and Kyle Chandler finally get their due


For many die hard TV fans, real Emmy victories are few and far between. Plenty of beloved series -- "The Wire" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to name two recent 21st century examples -- skirt by with barely a nod, while the same handful of series and actors take home statues year after year. But not in 2011.After only a handful of nominations and just one win (for casting) during its five-season run, perennial underdog "Friday Night Lights" finally took home two huge wins during its last year of Emmy eligibility. Winning for outstanding writing in a drama (showrunner Jason Katims for the series finale) and outstanding lead actor in a drama (Kyle Chandler), "FNL" seemed to be getting its formal thank you from an academy that's constantly overlooked it. Under normal circumstances, we'd segue into a complaint about it losing best drama series to four-time winner "Mad Men" or star Connie Britton not...
