We pick up literally an hour or two from where we left off in the spring, in the aftermath of Carlos’s killing Gabrielle’s stepfather just before their portion of a neighborhood dinner party was to begin.
The stepfather had sexually abused her as a child and was now stalking Gabby as an adult. When Carlos finds him about to attack her in their home, he whacks him with a candlestick, leaving him dead.
