ABC's new absurdist suburban comedy 'Suburgatory' derives some of its zany energy from improvisational comedy. As Ana Gasteyer told 'Access Hollywood Live,' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) many members of the show's cast got their start at The Groundlings theater and comedy school in L.A.
"It's a Groundlings jamboree," Gasteyer said. She, Chris Parnell and Cheryl Hines all got their start there, and Gasteyer explained that they're given the freedom to freelance while shooting. "Emily Kapneck is such an amazing writer who created 'Suburgatory,' and she's very cool about knowing those of us who have come from the background we have, and letting us play with it."
