THE SING-OFF “Top 5 Groups – The Rhythm and Blues Review” Season 3, Episode 9 – Sometimes I wonder how the remaining groups on The Sing-Off psych themselves up to try and beat Pentatonix in a game they’ve been winning since the very first episode of the season. That tiny group of 5 has managed to knock the competition out of the park every week with a unique style that combines an impeccable musical talent with an incredible modern sound.
When the judges rave about Pentatonix, they’re quick to praise the “freak of nature” talents of Avi and Kevin that give us that really full sound, but there hasn’t been too much attention given to the ability of the three vocalists to blend with one another seamlessly. In a capella, the group can only as strong as its weakest member and there’s not a weak link in Pentatonix.
Both their performances tonight were top notch but their rendition of “Let’s Get It On” had Shawn giving a standing ovation and Ben suggesting that any suspicious bumps in birthrates nine months from tonight would be tied to their performance. Pentatonix easily took the top spot in tonight’s competitionand it’s hard to see another group bumping them out of the top in the next couple episodes. Read More...
