'Law & Order: SVU' has been known to rip from the headlines, but in this week's episode, they're kicking it up a notch. In 'Spiraling Down' (Wed., Dec. 7, 10PM ET on NBC), the detectives catch a legendary footballer, played by 'Everwood' alum Treat Williams, in a teen prostitution sting.
Williams' character hires Andre Braugher's Bayard Ellis, the defense attorney who has been giving the 'SVU' team a run for their money. In this exclusive backstage clip, Braugher talks about the challenges his character faces in defending Williams' character, a man with chronic traumatic encephalopathy from his years on the football field.
"Sometimes he's in and sometimes he's out," Braugher said of the character's mental state. "Sometimes he understands what he's doing and its implications and sometimes he's simply not there. He doesn't remember and he's behaving in odd ways."
