Apparently Fast Five's box office domination was more than enough to greenlight a sixth film; there's a seventh in the works simultaneously. "With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space," Vin Diesel told THR. "The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’"
"Too much story for one movie" is a vaguely convincing argument for films like Harry Potter and...well, just Harry Potter...to be milked into two parts. It's a suspect claim for the increasingly hyper-lucrative Fast and the Furious series. Slashfilm speculates this means the next two installments may film together, with much of the stacked cast likely returning. All that's certain for now is there will soon be more Vin Diesel street racing flicks than Star Wars movies.
