Jim's New Body

I'm as big a fan of Ghost Whisper as anyone here, but honestly, aside from the pain of seeing Melinda lose Jim, the entire storyline is getting way too ridiculous for my liking! How does it make sense that he took over someone else's body and she "sees" him as the old Jim, when in actual fact, he's really this pretty not-so-good-looking blond dude. Are the Ghost Whisperer writers and producers running out of gimmicks to keep their viewers, or are they just really out of ideas?

This is exactly what happens to these supernatural shows (see Charmed), after a while, the entire story just gets too damn ridiculous! I just really hope that they will end this show on a high note, instead of dragging it through the mud and tainting every good vibe we all have of this series.

I too love Ghost Whisperer... but, I also feel that maybe they 'jumped the shark' on this one.

his is a show that focuses on many spiritual things. i think this storyline is great. as its focusing on the 'soul' of jim. not the physical body hes in which is just a shell anyway. and she doesnt see jim either! she sees the blonde guy but it doesnt matter for her. cause it is jim inside. as she said 'i see exactly the same as you do. a man with blonde hair. but when i look into his eyes i know its jim in there' sam has left the body. he has jumped ship
. he has ended his life on earth. his journey on earth is over. so he crossed over. but jim chose to walk into sams body. and with a soul in the body. the body can live again. at the moment he entered 'sams' body. it became his own body. i truly hope others will come to see the greatness in this story.

gwforever: I get where you're coming from, but then don't you think the whole idea of Jim getting a second shot at life is a little biased? Just because Melinda can see and talk to ghosts, she should be given this so-called special privilege? I mean, then I would say a lot of the ghost in the show deserve a "second chance", especially the kids! They should, well, just hop into a another body. I mean, no harm done, right?

eunichick: lol!. thats a interesting point. but from what i have read a 'walk in' is pretty rare. and only highly advanced souls can do it 'if' they still have things to learn on the earth plane. so i think jim was able to do a walk in because he was highly advanced soul. if it were possible i would imagine that anyone could do it! but they cant. each soul or spirit has a different life purpose. but the basic form when a walk in takes place is when a person is in a inch from death. and a exchange in souls takes place. there have been ocurances where they take place during open heart surgerys. one spirit wants out. and another comes in to learn. so for now until the show proves otherwise. i would like to hope that he performed this transition because he was advanced enough to do so and not because he happens to have a wife who has a 'special gift!' lol. but so far im not seeing enough evidence to sugest that. then i would say it was biased lol.

Laughs. Believe me, I'm as big as a romantic as anyone of you, but as a Producer myself, I don't quite like it when the story just unhinges and starts bordering on ridiculous.

I think this season's storyline is great.. Sure, it sounds ridiculous and biased since Jim is getting a second chance to "live" again. I think the writers are doing a different side of things on life and death and how love can go beyond a lot of things and stay strong. It's fantasy with certain specific realistic lessons which is very entertaining. I think the writers did a great job with this climax in the series. It sure is different and may seem preposterous but I think we should be more open about such things because if you think about it, it's not that ridiculous. It's just a different point-of-view on life. I'm not saying that I believe such things really do happen, I don't know. I'm just saying that we should give kudos to the writers because the season of Ghost Whisperer is going great. As long as it ends well that is.

I think they should develop the mythological arc more instead of killing jim for nothing - I mean now they dont tell us anything new, they are just starting over the romance we knew. that is totally lame!

I don't think the writers would have wanted to go on this direction. Does anyone know why Jim is out? New paycheck and new show for him elsewhere, is it?

Having lost my husband almost 5 years ago, I think the writers and producers have decided to take this angle because it's something everyone's going to go through, and the fact that the one thing you don't want to happen the most is losing a spouse too soon.I can tell you that like Melinda, I spent many nights talking to my husband, not really being able to see or feel him at first. But the fact that she sees Sam when she looks at him and not Jim is because no matter what , it would not have made sense to those who knew Sam for them to then see Jim's face. But the fact that she recognize Jim in Sam's body is the fact that when people die, we then tend to see pieces or fragments of the one's we've lost in others, especially in children.I think that this is an interesting angle for them to do, and I think that like someone else mentioned, it would be ironic if at the end of the season she woke up from what would be a nightmare, to discover the fact that it was more of a premonition, so she could change that particular course of events in their lives.

I think that although it is kinda sweet, the whole romance thing, it isnt Jim. I know its his soul but he is half Jim half Sam and i think no Jim is not as bad as half Jim because with no Jim Melinda can move on. If they do do 'it was just a dream' then it goes against all good writing. As a child in Primary school, we were band from saying 'and then I woke up and it was all a dream' in our story writing lesson. Its just such an easy way out of a predicament you dont know how to solve.
The only really good thing about this show at the mo is the fact that Deliah now believes in Melinda properly.
Anther thing - i want Payne back!!!! The actor who plays Eli is s***!!! He cnt act - he is like a wooden robot!! (he is that bad he doesnt deserve to be a kewl new robot!)
So basically, I want Jim back as Jim, the writers not to cop out and say 'it was all a dream' and if that does happen for Deliah to still believe Melinda fully!! (like thats gna happen!)

I look forward to the unusual twists and stroylines in GW. But with Jim's death and his 'possession' of another body has made me cringe! More than that, it has absolutely undermined all that Melinda has been doing, her sole purpose to cross over souls! I hope the writers have a clue where they are taking a great show to...don't lose your faithful fans by losing the show's core theme and Melinda's purpose!

Yeah it's rediculous how they killed Jim and got a very UGLY guy to play him as what everyone else sees him as. Also Melinda doesn't see him as how he used to be she sees him as the other guy just like everyone else does. The only reason they show Jim how he used to be is to keep the veiwers and so that we know it's Jim in there and because the actor is MUCH better and definatly cute.

I read in one of the earlier posts that Jim could be brought back with Melinda having a vision / premonition of what will happen (Jim's death, him possessing another body and refusing to cross over) and stopping /altering those chain of events from happening to prevent Jim's fatal outcome! Writers, go with that and bring Jim back and....give Melinda a little 'normalcy' with Jim in her life! Still hoping!
