'Work It' gets laid off ... but no 'Cougar Town' quite yet


The "Work It" era is coming to an end at ABC.The network sent a notice late Friday (Jan. 13) that it's pulling the low-rated, savagely reviewed sitcom after just two episodes. Tuesday's show drew 4.9 million viewers and a paltry 1.5 rating among adults 18-49.So, that means "Cougar Town" is on its way back in the next week or two, right? Well, not immediately -- but that might not be such a bad thing.ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee said earlier in the week that he wants to give Season 3 of "Cougar Town" a "very good launchpad" -- and dropping it into the timeslot of a failed sitcom with no time to promote it doesn't qualify. For the rest of January, reruns of "Last Man Standing" will fill the 8:30 p.m. Tuesday spot on ABC. We wouldn't be surprised to see "Cougar Town" take over the time period in February, but if it's going to...
