Stargate Atlantis was axed for this?

I'm sorry but this show is no where near as good as SA. It's slow, the characters are boring (or just annoying), and the storyline is crap. I've never watched Battle Star Galactica but I hear it's like SU. That review doesn't make me want to start watching it either (although I hear BSG is somewhat better) I started watching with sincere hope it would fill my Stargate fix but I think, no know, I'd prefer reruns of SG1 and SA instead. I'll keep watching SU, hoping that it can live up to the incredible legacy of SG1 and Atlantis, but at this rate I don't have much hope. If there was any justice SA would be brought back and this show would become just a dirty little secret. It does more harm than good to any prospective Stargate fans.

This show is so not Stargate, it's Lost in Space with a ring in the center of the ship. They rarely use the stargate, the drama is so obvious my 4 year old son can follow it. The character development is a joke, and the whole Lucian Alliance angle was flat out stupid. This is a failure train moving to the next station of terrible. It's sad because I am trying really hard to stay faithful to the SG franchise but this is sad.

I still like it a lot, allthough I must admit that the Earth episode was a seriously boring one... Go SGU!

I completely agree with EVERYTHING you said! Well, except for the part where you said you'll keep watching. I can't keep watching... it just bores & annoys me way too much. Instead, I read the descriptions of the episodes to see if it's going to be worth it. Like this coming episode says Eli & Chloe will be visiting loved ones with the stones... and going to a club? Not worth it. *skips* I honestly can't stand SGU... the characters annoy and irritate me because they're so stupid and ignorant (except Dr. Rush, and sometimes Eli), and it's slow and boring. :\ I really do hope things change... because I really love the Stargate franchise, and don't want to start hating it.

I agree with all your points; however I still enjoy watching sgu. Ever since they axed sga i felt like the show was rushed for an ending and the just did whatever. It basically left a bad taste in my mouth. So when i saw the preview for sgu, I was like alright another stargate! It was somewhat of a disappointment, the episode names were a dead give away of what the episode was going to be about... "Water" "darkness" "air"... i mean come on make better titles. The plot was predictable and some of the characters are lame. But with all that said, i still some how, like the show.... If your a true fan of stargate give this series at least one or two seasons to start firing up, who knows it may get good when they decide to show use some weapons or enemies. When Sga first came out, i compared it to Sg1 and saw that the characters where the same, but the development of the characters is what got me for SG1 and SGA, we loved those shows because we cared about the characters! As of now for sgu I only like Dr.Rush.

WOW..EPIC FAIL, the comments @ sidereel.com... tell me pretty much everythink i was afraid of for this weeks episode of sgu: 1. "..Armstrong girl wallow in self pity one more time".... 2. "the only thing remotely interesting about "Earth" was Young fucking his wife in Telford's body".. 3. "But one entertaining moment in 40 minutes? Not quite good enough, ya know?" And it's true. Now thats what i call an insult. A fucking kick in the teeth of people who actually had fun on anything that was remotely freaky geeky funny and cool like stargate. But this attempt to get a new generation to watch sg is really aimed at 14 year old girlies educated by reallity-tv and 90210 and everyone who wants to be one in the future. Change the damn show so that it's at least semi watchable.. sga and sg1 is gone, that is for sure. i know why they cancelled sga first and didn't let sgu establish it's foothold while sga is still on. because they would've had just 30% of sg-fans watching sgu if there is something remotely better availlable. "I sure wasn't. Atlantis kicked off with a bang, and charmed my socks off from the get go. And even the minor characters were interesting. I was instantly hooked, and there wasn't even any real eye candy." - same over here.. i loved it untill the first second. --------------------------------------------------visit --------------------------------------------------

<<<Funny, but 7 episodes into Stargate Atlantis, I was saying the same thing about it in comparison to SG-1.>>> I sure wasn't. Atlantis kicked off with a bang, and charmed my socks off from the get go. And even the minor characters were interesting. I was instantly hooked, and there wasn't even any real eye candy. Universe... bah. After "Earth" I'm not sure I'll even bother to watch the next episode. If I have to see that Armstrong girl wallow in self pity one more time, and people just enabling her instead of calling her on it, I'm gonna hurl. The whole damn show is emo. Frankly, the only thing remotely interesting about "Earth" was Young fucking his wife in Telford's body - buahahahaha. That's freaking *evil*. But one entertaining moment in 40 minutes? Not quite good enough, ya know? I'm a Stargate fan, so I really *wanted* to like Universe. But man they're not making it easy.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. SG-1 and SGA were cheesy, but immensely lovable. SGU is just this huge let down in almost every way. I'm only really commenting to say that if you haven't watched Battlestar Galactica, you should. The BSG finale was also a huge let down, not to mention a shameful cop out, but the first two seasons of BSG were *phenomenal* and frankly, nobody who likes science fiction *or* drama should miss them.

SGU is by far the worst stargate series ever. I'd have to agree with most of your points and although i respect the writers attempting to make SGU it's own show, i disagree with them deciding to tone it down to attract more younger viewers. Theres an article on the gateworld site about that. BSG is basically SGU with a good story, action and actual drama rather then the crappy love triangle crap that was bloody obvious. I recommend you watch the first couple of episodes just to see if you like the idea of it, and if you think people running away from murderous robots can be entertaining after that, watch the rest of it.
