TV ratings: Two-hour 'American Idol' leads a soft Thursday, 'Grey's' and 'The Office' tumble


Fast National ratings for Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012FOX scored a ratings win Thursday night with a two-hour edition of "American Idol," but its numbers in the 8 o'clock hour were off from last week. Ratings were down pretty much across the board, in fact, with "The Office" and "Grey's Anatomy" both taking big hits and CBS' dramas falling some too.On the upside, "Private Practice" was up slightly in the second half of a crossover episode with "Grey's."FOX averaged 16.5 million viewers and a 9.7 rating/15 share in households in primetime, leading second-place CBS (13.35 million, 8.1/13) by about 3 million viewers. ABC (6.8 million, 4.4./7) came in third. NBC managed only 3.1 million viewers and a 2.0/3. The CW (2.3 million, 1.5/2) was off about 100,000 viewers from last week.In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 5.0 rating led by a good margin over CBS' 3.3.
