Move over, Shane. "The Walking Dead" has a new cast of villains.
Here’s what we have learned about the predatory marauders first introduced last episode, when Rick shot two of them in the saloon: They work in well-armed teams with fairly careful and advanced tactics, dispatching a rooftop sniper during the standoff that opens this week’s episode. They come running to help their comrades when they hear gunfire, but they are just as quick to abandon a comrade in a crisis.
For now, there’s no telling how many of them there are or where they come from. But we’re likely to get more information on that score pretty soon.
The follow-up gunfight outside the saloon ends with a third marauder killed — this time by a surprisingly deadly Hershel Greene — and one wounded with a metal fence post in his leg. The wounded bad guy, left behind when the band of outsiders beats a hasty retreat before an incoming wave of walkers, turns out to be a teenager. Rick, Hershel and Glen decide to save his life, and actually try to make preparations for the worst-timed amputation of his wounded leg before thinking better of it. In the end, the young man named Randall arrives at Greene farm wearing a blindfold for what will presumably be a slightly less gruesome surgical procedure. Read More...
