Canadian Medical Drama ‘Saving Hope’ To Air in the U.S on NBC

NBC will be the U.S. broadcaster for the new one-hour original medical drama series from Canada calledSaving Hope that received a 12-episode order in addition to the pilot shot last summer for the Canadianchannel CTV.

The show will focus on charismatic Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks from ‘Stargate: SG-1? fame) who works at Toronto’s Hope-Zion Hospital; but when Charlie ends up in a coma, he leaves the hospital in chaos and his fiancée and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Erica Durance from ‘Smallville’ fame), in a state of shock. Alex races to save Charlie’s life with the help of newly-arrived star surgeon, Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies from ‘The Vampire Diaries’). As the action unfolds, comatose Charlie explores the hospital halls in "spirit" form, not sure if he’s a ghost or a figment of his own imagination. Meanwhile, Alex, along with her fellow doctors, press on to save his life and those of their other patients, as they deal with the complicated and courageous decisions that are made in their daily struggle to keep hope alive.
