Problem with "99 Problems"

Last night's episode of Supernatural was a great episode. The season is finally getting into the hardcore action like the end of every other season. I loved the idea of a town full of hunters going against each other in order to reserve a space for themselves in Paradise. The episode was filled with grief, deceit, angst, and humor thanks to Castiel. What I find the most exciting part of the episode is the once-again portrayed brotherly angst. However, this time Dean is the one acting out while Sam is the more sensible brother.

Unfortunately, I find there is a major flaw with this episode: the end. Why bring back Lisa? I understand that Dean had a fling with her back before the show and met up with her again in Season 3, but why? The end was completely confusing and totally unneeded. If they wanted to bring someone back into the picture, why not Cassie? Dean obviously had a deeper connection with her, and he admitted he loved her. The ending just felt unnecessary and a total waste.

Because in truth he may of had a deeper connection with Cassie from season 1 then with Lisa but it wasn't entirely Lisa that brought Dean back to see her. I mean Dean didn't just see a lover with Lisa he saw a family, a son and a wife, a picture of normalcy. And it's really the only thing in Dean's life that we've seen that resmebles that.If you remember back in the episode with the Dreamroot when they were in Dean's head him and Sam saw Lisa on a picnic cloth talking about Ben. The dream obviously representing what Dean really wanted. So I think until Dean found a connection to Lisa's son in the changeling episode it would be fair to say that he cares about Cassie more, but now he can picture a normal family life I'd say that that bond is stronger then the love he shared for Cassie. I mean after all, family has always been the most important thing to Dean.
Anyhoo that's my theory on it, well that and the fact that she was probably easier to get a hold of to come back for an episode then the actress who played Cassie.

^ Hit the nail on the head. Cassie was awful anyway, I much prefer Dean with Lisa. And Ben is just too cute.

They brought her back because they need some more emotional ties for him other than Sam and Bobby. They are obviously throwing it in last minute for some upcoming storyline. This is poor preparation by the writers.
