‘The Voice,’ Season 2, The Final Battles: TV Recap

 

The battle comes to an end at last on tonight’s edition of The Voice. Tonight’s competition: the single-named, oddly spelled opponents.

Battle 1: Cee Lo puts body shop worker James Massone against Wade with Cyndi Lauper’s "True Colors." (If you haven’t heard Eva Cassidy’s version, it’s also excellent.)   The rehearsal is just painful.  Babyface says Wade is like Al Green and there’s a calmness about him.  Cee Lo says the song should move people.  It moves me to wince as both of them are off-key.  All the judges vote for James.  Cee Lo says Wade broke his heart because he planned to take him to the end but Wade sucked.  So he picks James.
