'Smash' Recap: 'Publicity'

In the middle of dinner at an Indian restaurant on last night's "Smash," there was a full-blown Bollywood number, "A Thousand and One Nights" with lead vocals by Dev and appearances by essentially everyone in the cast all dreaming of what they truly wanted. There’s nothing else to talk about. That’s all that you need to know. I could run down all of the updates we got about various cast members' personal lives, from Rebecca being (surprise, surprise) a drama queen with a peanut allergy, and Ivy going back to her less-than-friendly ways. I could discuss how Eileen’s new boyfriend, Nick, was the opposite of Jerry, or how Julia’s son Leo ran away for 72 hours. We’ll get there. But first we have to discuss what happened about 40 minutes into the episode. "Glee," the other fantastical musical show, has done a lot of weird, head-snapping crazy during its three seasons.
