"Law & Order: SVU" has been renewed. The Dick Wolf series will keep the "Law & Order" franchise alive for an impressive 14th season. NBC has also handed out a series order to Wolf's "Chicago Fire."
An "SVU" renewal seemed likely after series star Mariska Hargitay renewed her contract.
"I'll be back. I can't leave this show," Hargitay said in January. "I'm having too much fun."
The series went through a sort of rebirth during Season 13. Christopher Meloni left the series after Season 12 and longtime showrunner Neal Baer left the show, with Warren Leight taking the reins. Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino joined the cast as two new detectives and the show began to explore the personal life of Hargitay's character Detective Olivia Benson.
