Louisiana

I love this show, mistake me not. however, it really is "just another" vampire series.

the elements, though, that really make it as impressive as it is the emphasis on sex and purity, as well as the cajun mix. granted, my being from southern Louisana may make me slightly bias. nevertheless, I think it adds a nice spin to it. something a little more foreign to most others.

Ooo I disagree! Not 'just another' vampire series. I thought I'd be getting some kind of Buffy-type show, but it's so good and not fluffy at all!
Maybe I'll even read the books!

You will not regret reading the books, trust me. and from what i hear only the first book will be followed in the series so it may be nice to see other parts of their lives.

how many books are in the series.
and I suppose I wasn't clear. I meant without the setting and the beautiful (though painfully obvious) metaphors and motifs, it would be "just another". sry wasn't more clear the first time.

I just never heard of "samey" before.
and only _some_ of us sound _kinda_ like that.sure, a lot of us down here have quite an accent. however, what they're doing ain't quite it.
though agreed, I do love it! :D I'm a linguists -- accents make me hot. haha!

Ok, I completely disagree with you there! I loved Buffy! It was a truly great show. I also happen to love true blood. For god's sake they're not mutually exclusive! Buffy was far tamer in comparison but that doesn't make it any less good.

I don't understand why people keep on comparing various series but time to time it's just because producers want to seduce back ancient fans first and they quite play with the thing meanwhile the viewers set great expectations and are sometimes desillusioned comparing one former hit show to a brand new one! I just love 'True Blood' and the adaptation is perfect, if they carry on with the true storyline, it will surprise many by how the whole thing and the characters will turn to be. And there is the Twilight movie release due in december 2008, another vampire/romance but not at the same level : I like the two different authors works, and I don't find any resemblance at all.

Someone asked how many books were in the series.. I believe there's like 8 or 9. I can't really remember, even though I've read them all. They're by Charlaine Harris, and are excellent!
